Equal Opportunities for Managers

Having an awareness of Equal Opportunities legislation can prevent a business facing an expensive or newsworthy appearance in court on a charge of discrimination. As a manager you have an additional responsibility to ensure your team follows best practice principles in relation to equal opportunities.

The aim of this workshop is to promote co-operative working relationships within an organisation.

A highly participative day of short tutor inputs, group sessions and individual work, which provides participants with an opportunity to explore equal opportunities issues that managers may face at work.

Course Contents:

  • Explain the difference between diversity and equal opportunities
  • Identify discrimination and how it works
  • Increase their awareness of equal opportunities legislation
  • Understand the moral and business case for equality of opportunity
  • Increase awareness of their own and others’ attitudes towards equality issues
  • List the benefits of equal opportunities in the workplace
  • Understand their rights and responsibilities as a manager in relation to equal opportunities
  • Explain how to develop a working environment free from harassment
  • Compile an action plan to implement their individual learning points from the workshop
